The Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild serves members of the community who wish to explore and share their gifts and talents through the performing arts. We do this by presenting a wide variety of music, theater and dance experiences to the public and by inviting community participation as performers and audience members. We bring artists together to create mutual inspiration and encouragement. We bring communities together to share the appreciation of creative expression and to acknowledge its contribution to the overall quality of our lives.
PERFORMING ARTS
The Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild has several annual productions including a full scale theater production and a radio play! Members of the community enjoy participating in our annual theater production each summer. People of every age enjoy acting, working on sets and props, being a part of the stage crew, helping with poster designs and ads and even directing and writing! Each and every production has been great fun for all involved including the audience. Whether you have never acted and want to try your hand at theater, or even if you have years of experience, our annual play is an excellent way to get onstage and be a part of something wonderful! The beloved Radio Play happens each year in the winter. Families and community members of all ages come together to audition for a selected radio play. This theatrical event is perfect for anyone who is too shy for live theater but loves to be creative! After receiving the script and participating in a read-through, actors are then scheduled to record their lines in a custom studio located near downtown Clanton. (This studio is owned and operated by our local patron of the Arts - Mike Schiermann, whom many of you may remember as the radio host Scott Michaels who was on the air in Birmingham for many years.) The Radio Play is aired on several stations in the spring and the Central Alabama Performing Arts Guild always hosts a grand Listening Party for all ages to attend!
